Crime has dropped 50 percent since changes were implemented in early 2012 at Mayor Wright Homes, the scene of two murders in 2011 and 2012, Hawaii Public Housing Authority officials recently announced. Tougher policies under Hawaii Public Housing Authority Executive Director Hakim Ouansafi have been credited with the dramatic improvement at the 364-unit public housing development in Palama.
