~~<p>Despite a firestorm of controversy on Monday, state Rep. Tom Brower once again picked up his sledgehammer and went out to rid his Waikiki-Ala Moana district of shopping carts that homeless people use.</p>
<p>Abandoned shopping carts filled with trash blighted several sections of Kala&shy;kaua Avenue, the main thoroughfare for the state's top tourist area. The carts are a typical sight in a district that has been overwhelmed with people living on the streets without storage for their belongings.</p>
