Housing aid jumps 14.7% for military on Oahu

The rise in their allowances compares with an average increase nationally of 5 percent

~~<p>Housing allowances for military members will increase 14.7 percent on Oahu come Jan. 1 in one of the biggest jumps across the nation, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.</p>
<p>That means an Army or Marine sergeant with dependents who received $2,256 a month this year will receive $2,709 next month.</p>
