Diminished waves, sand shoring provide relief to homeowners

Forecasters expect surf of more than 20 feet to come rumbling in at the North Shore

~~<p>Lower-than-expected high surf Friday, combined with emergency shoring of sand in residential areas, helped spare coastal homes on Oahu's North Shore of potential damage.</p>
<p>The surf began to drop by early afternoon. However, it's expected to build again Sunday and reach higher heights Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.</p>
