Bookie receives 10 months in jail for sports gambling

The scheme allegedly involved laundering money through a restaurant owner

~~<p>A federal judge handed down a 10-month jail sentence Thursday for a man involved in running an Inter&shy;&shy;net sports betting operation in Hono&shy;lulu that handled hundreds of millions of dollars in wagers.</p>
<p>Allen Yamada, 41, has until July 17 to turn himself in to begin serving his jail term. He pleaded guilty to gambling, money laundering and tax fraud charges in December.</p>
