Honolulu's Alexandra White won the girls title at the Junior All-Star at Penn State, which ended yesterday in State College, Pa.

White closed with a 4-over-par 76 to win by one shot with a three-day score of 226. She beat 31 other girls from the U.S., Canada and Thailand. White was coming off a runner-up finish at the Hilton Head Junior All-Star.

This was one of 10 events in the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series, designed to prepare players ages 12-15 to enter American Junior Golf Association Open events.

In other junior golf yesterday:

» Honolulu's Alice Kim moved into a share of fourth after three rounds of the Trusted Choice Big I National Championship. Kim fired a 3-over-par 75 and, at 225, is seven shots out of first. Hilo's Ciera Min shot 72 to move up to 10th at 229.

Lahaina's Aaron Kunitomo is tied for fifth at 71--219 in the boys field. He is six shots out of first.

» Hawaii's boys faded to finish 13th in the 17-team Junior America's Cup in Albuquerque, N.M. Hawaii closed with a 7-over-par 220, for a three-day total of 652. Southern California was the winner, at 202--618. The Hawaii team was led by Alex Chiarella, who tied for 11th at 71--211. Michael Fan shot 76--221, Ryan Kuroiwa went 77--224 and Justin Chu 73--225.

Punahou graduate Alex Ching improved by seven shots in the second round of the 52nd annual Porter Cup, at Niagara Falls Country Club in New York. Ching shot an even-par 70 and is tied for 67th at 147. The lead is shared by Russell Henley (67) of Georgia and Harry Rudolph III (65), from California, at 132. Former Hawaii resident Chan Kim (69--140) is tied for 20th.

» Mililani's Kristen Sawada (83) is 46th and Kaneohe's Monica Keo (85) 61st after the opening round of the Girls 16-18 division at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships in Florida. In Boys 16-18, Waipahu's Thayer Schmitz (79) is 67th.
