Vercruyssen honored again

Nani Vercruyssen was recently named the Trampoline Sportswoman of the Year by USA Gymnastics.

Vercruyssen, who trains at the Hawaii Academy in Kalihi, was selected the top trampoline gymnast in the country in a vote of her peers on the U.S. National team.

She recently placed eighth as an individual in the Visa Gymnastic Championships in Hartford, Conn., but took gold in the synchronized competition with partner Shanelle Landry of New Jersey.

Vercruyssen intends to attend classes at UH while preparing for the 2012 Olympics in London.
