Viloria's in line for title shot

By Star-Advertiser staff

Brian Viloria is expected to receive a shot at the WBO flyweight title after registering a seventh-round knockout of Liempetch Sor Veerapol last night at the Ynares Sports Arena in the Philippines.

Viloria dropped Veerapol with a crushing body shot at 2 minutes, 9 seconds of the seventh round, improving his overall record to 28-3 with 16 knockouts.

Viloria is now the WBO's mandated challenger at 112 pounds and is expected to fight champion Julio Cesar Miranda early next year.

Manager Gary Gittelsohn said earlier this week that Hawaii would be a possibility as a location to host the title bout, should Viloria get past Veerapol (19-7-1, 12 KOs).

Viloria looked much more impressive than he did in a split decision win over Omar Soto in July.

Both of the fights took place at 112 pounds. Viloria made the jump in weight following a TKO loss to Carlos Tamara in January.
