Ostrowski services set for Saturday

Services for former Maryknoll basketball standout Damian "Kui" Ostrowski are on Saturday at Central Union Church.

An incorrect day of the week was listed in yesterday's edition of the Star-Advertiser.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., while services are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Ostrowski, the father of University of Hawaii athlete Miah Ostrowski, died on Jan. 26 of heart failure. He was 43.

Hawaii fifth in water polo tourney

The Hawaii water polo team lost to USC, but beat Arizona State to finish fifth at the Stanford Invitational yesterday at Stanford, Calif.

Monika Eggens scored three goals in the 9-7 loss for the Rainbow Wahine, but Nadia Dan matched her for No. 2 USC. Eggens scored two more goals in Hawaii's 9-7 loss to Arizona State, joined by Carmen Eggens and Saara Majuri as multiple-goal scorers.

Hawaii (3-2, 1-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) travels to play No. 4 UCLA on Feb. 24.

Chaminade shut out in softball

Christine Roser drove in three runs and Amber Pederson added two RBIs to lead Rollins College (Fla.) past host Chaminade 6-0 yesterday.

Chasity Senas and Melissa Harris had the only hits for the Silverswords, who dropped to 2-1.

The second game of Chaminade's doubleheader with the Lady Tars (4-1) was rained out and will not be made up.

Chaminade next faces Azusa Pacific on Thursday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
