HPU sweeps AAU in baseball

Brent Queen pitched six effective innings and improved to 3-2 in leading Hawaii Pacific to a 10-1 baseball victory over Academy of Art in the first game of a doubleheader sweep yesterday in Oakland, Calif.

Rylan Morihara had a pair of two-run singles to lead the HPU offense.

In the second game, Sergio Contreras allowed just one hit in six innings to lead the Sea Warriors (13-14, 10-6 Pacific West) to a 9-0 win. Max Newman led HPU at the plate with three hits.

Hawaii beats Air Force in tennis

Dennis Lajola, Jeremy Tweedt and Jonathan Brooklyn all had wins in singles and doubles to lead Hawaii to a 7-0 men's tennis victory over Air Force yesterday at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Warriors improved to 3-8.

UCLA takes two from UH women

UCLA won six of eight singles matches and all four doubles matches against Hawaii yesterday to close the Mauna Lani Bay Tennis Classic on the Big Island. Competition was held in singles and doubles, but no team score was kept.

Magdalena Ploch and Xenia Suworowa won singles matches for UH yesterday.

On Monday, UCLA won all 12 matches — eight singles and four doubles.

BYUH tops Hawaii-Hilo

Rong Ma and Agnel Peter won in both singles and doubles matches to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 5-4 men's tennis victory over Hawaii-Hilo at Laie yesterday.

Ryan Coffey and Kallen Mizuguchi won in both singles and doubles for the Vulcans.

Seasiders women blank Vulcans

In the women's match, BYUH beat Hawaii-Hilo 9-0. Elwen Li, Yuan Jia, Annie Hwang, Kaylyn Bristol, Sasha Ulbrichtova and Sophia Simmons led the way for the Seasiders with wins in both singles and doubles.

Dixie State sweeps UHH in baseball

Joe Andrade homered and drove in four runs to lead Dixie State to a 9-3 baseball victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday in St. George, Utah.

Jonathan James drove in two runs and Keoni Manago went 3-for-4 for the Vulcans (6-9, 3-5).

In the second game, Ammon Zitting went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to lead the Red Storm (17-7, 13-3) to a 14-3 win.

Joshua Wong led the way for UHH, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Humboldt State drops UHH twice

Ally Blenis and Chrissy Stalf homered to power Humboldt State to a 9-1 victory in the first game of a softball doubleheader sweep yesterday in Arcata, Calif.

In the second game, Stalf hit two homers as part of a 3-for-4, five-RBI performance in the 9-4 win for the Lumberjacks (13-11).

Kanani Numata drove in two runs and Aisha Sueda went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Vulcans (8-7).
