Stanford tips Hawaii in water polo

Annika Dries scored three goals to lead top-ranked Stanford to a 10-8 victory over No. 5 Hawaii in women's water polo yesterday in Stanford, Calif.

The Cardinal improved to 21-0 overall and 5-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Monika Eggens and Saara Majuri scored thee goals apiece for the Rainbow Wahine (14-7, 3-3).

 

Chun takes gold medal in Cleveland

Hawaii's Clarissa Chun captured the women's freestyle wrestling gold medal in the 48-kilogram (105.5 pounds)class at the U.S. Open and FILAJunior National Championships last night in Cleveland.

Chun beat Nicole Woody by technical fall in the final.

Chun is a member of the U.S. national team and trains full-time in Colorado Springs, Colo.

 

Wagner to speak at QBClub

Brigham Young-Hawaii basketball coach Ken Wagner will be the guest speaker at tomorrow's weekly luncheon meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

Wagner guided BYUHto the Division IInational championship game in Springfield, Mass., where the Seasiders lost to Bellarmine (Ky.) last month. He has had only one losing season out of 21 with the Seasiders.

Darin Yap and Barry Toyama of Tactical Strength and Conditioning, a performance training company, are also slated to speak at the meeting.

The luncheon at Maple Garden restaurant starts at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow. The cost is $15 and the public is invited.
