Kaimuki upsets No. 1 Castle in softball

Ehlen Awaya tripled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and Kaimuki went on to score four more runs to upset No. 1 Castle 8-3 yesterday.

The Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East Conference softball game was played at Castle.

Kaimuki, which took advantage of five Castle errors, sent the game into extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh.

Dejah Faasoa went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Nikki Veongprachanh went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Kaimuki.

Krystin Kubo hit a two-out double in the top of the 10th to drive in the go-ahead and later scored on an error as the Mules beat the Seariders.

Leilehua rallied from a 9-3 deficit in the fourth, with four runs in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Anuenue pounded out three triples.

Isa Benavente lifted Farrington's offense, going 5-for-6 with a double, triple and two RBIs.
