Moore still in title hunt in France

Hawaii surfer Carissa Moore placed second in her heat in the third round of the Roxy Pro Biarritz in France and will need to survive another "sudden death" round to advance to the quarterfinals.

Moore, who entered the event atop the Association of Surfing Professionals world rankings, was slated to face Australia's Tyler Wright in the fourth round for one of the four remaining berths in the quarterfinals. She won her second-round heat against Australia's Felicity Palmateer, then posted a score of 11.70 in the third round to finish behind Courtney Conlogue's 12.63.

Moore can clinch the ASP women's world title by winning the event. Her closest competitor, Australia's Sally Fitzgibbons, secured a spot in the quarterfinals by winning her third-round heat.

Hawaii's Coco Ho also won her second-round heat against Jessi Miley-Dyer and placed second in the third round behind Stephanie Gilmore. Ho faces Paige Hareb of New Zealand in the fourth round.

'Bows' Wong, Linsky honored

The University of Hawaii's Kolten Wong and Lenny Linsky were honorable mentions on the CollegeBaseballInsider.com NCAA Division I All-America Team.

Wong, a second baseman, started all 59 games for the Rainbows (34-25) this past season. The Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate batted .378 with 48 runs, seven homers, 53 RBIs and 23 stolen bases.

Wong was drafted by St. Louis in the first round of last month's MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Linsky, a right-hander, led the WAC with 14 saves, which also is a UH single-season record. The Palos Verdes, Calif., native compiled a 1.30 ERA in 34.7 innings.

Linsky was drafted in the second round by Tampa Bay.
