SAN FRANCISCO >> Police made 30 arrests during the 49ers final regular season game at Candlestick Park on Monday, police said.

Most of the arrests were for public drunkenness, though one person was taken into custody on suspicion of trying to steal a seat from the stadium, Sgt. Eric O’Neal said. Police had to transport suspects to smaller lockups at district police stations because San Francisco’s jail became so full at one point, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

An additional 81 people were ejected and seven people cited, police said. One person suffered a minor head injury, the Chronicle reported.

Still, O’Neal said the event went well overall. Police Chief Greg Suhr had said earlier that fans could expect 50 percent more officers at Monday’s game than a regular night game.

“For such a large number of people, there were a very small number of arrests,” O’Neal said. “We’re very pleased with that.”

The sell-out crowd of about 70,000 people was supplemented by tailgaters and officials. The 49ers beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-24 to clinch a playoff spot in a wild finish that included an interception.

There were fireworks and a musical performance after the game.

The Niners began playing at The Stick in 1971. The team is moving to a new, $1.2 billion stadium next season.
