No. 13 Hawaii holds off Long Beach State

Senior hitter Emily Hartong put down 21 kills and freshman Nikki Taylor added 12 to lead No. 13 Hawaii past Long Beach State 25-27, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22 in a Big West volleyball match Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Sophomore Tai Manu-Olevao added 11 kills for the Rainbow Wahine 18-4, 7-3).

Delainey Aigner-Swesey led the 49ers (12-10, 5-4) with 15 kills and Alex Reid 12.

A turnstile crowd of 6,206 saw the hard-fought match end after 2 hours and 12 minutes when 49ers setter Erin Juley was called for a net violation.

Hawaii goes back on the road for matches at Cal Poly Friday and UC Santa Barbara Saturday.
