UH’s Tavita Woodard had a solid Pro Day working out for scouts in San Diego back in March.
Former University of Hawaii football player Tavita Woodard will not be joining the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks — at least for the moment.
Woodard was invited to audition at the Seahawks’ rookie mini camp this past weekend. Although Woodard was used as an outside linebacker with the first unit during several drills, he was not offered a free-agent contract, according to agent Cameron Weiss.
Weiss said Woodard was told he would be considered for a future opening with the Seahawks. NFL rosters are limited to 93 players during the offseason.
Woodard returned to Honolulu, where he will continue to train.
“We’ll explore other opportunities,” Weiss said.
Woodard is a McKinley High graduate who completed his UH eligibility at the end of the 2013 season. Woodard earned a bachelor’s degree this past December.
