Aaron Barnett’s two-out RBI single to left scored Bryan Langlois in the top of the 11th inning and Pepperdine overcame a late Hawaii rally to beat the Rainbow Warriors 2-1 on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Hawaii was down 1-0 with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning when pinch hitter Trevor Podratz singled to right, scoring Marc Flores from second.

It was the first earned run given up this season by Pepperdine starter Corey Miller in 25 2/3 innings.

Freshman Gordon Cardenas (0-2) took the loss for Hawaii (5-5), which had its five-game winning streak come to an end.

Cardenas allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts in four innings in relief of starter Scott Squier. Squier went seven innings and allowed one run on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Miller allowed three of his seven hits in the ninth inning and struck out eight with one walk.

Barnett drove in both runs for the Waves (7-2).

Flores had three hits, including a leadoff single in the bottom of the 11th off of Eric Karch (2-0), who allowed his first hit of the season. Podratz drew a two-out walk before Karch struck out Jerry Kleman looking to end it.

The series continues Friday night at 6:35.
