LAS VEGAS >> University of Nevada, Las Vegas, officials say they’ll move forward with plans to build a 60,000-seat stadium on campus despite losing their private development partner.

Campus officials announced late Wednesday that Los Angeles-based Majestic Realty Co. is leaving the project effective May 27.

UNLV Hotel College dean and UNLVNow project chief Don Snyder says that it’ll be up to the resort industry and community to step up with support.

The Nevada Board of Regents voted in November to support a campus master plan including the stadium.

Officials said it would replace aging Sam Boyd Stadium for UNLV football games, and could help attract events such as NFL exhibition games or the Electric Daisy Carnival.

The music festival draws tens of thousands of people to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
