By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

Maryknoll alumnus Zac Fujimoto went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead LMU to a 9-0 win over Hawaii today in the first game of the UNLV Rebel Classic at Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas.

Hawaii fell to 0-9 for the season, matching the worst start in school history.

The first four batters reached base for the Lions (4-5), who roughed up Rainbows starter Scott Squier (0-2) for five runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Sophomore Colin Welmon (2-1) tossed a two-hit shutout with no walks and six strikeouts.

Kaeo Aliviado doubled and had both hits for the Rainbows, who haven't scored in 25 consecutive innings.

UH has failed to score in 54 of its last 56 innings and is 2-for-40 with runners in scoring position in its last five games.

The tournament continues with a game against Bradley at noon on Friday.
