UH Softball: Parnaby, Majam lead All-Big West team

The University of Hawaii softball team claimed three major awards on the Big West all-conference team.

The All-Big West team was announced today and senior Kaia Parnaby was named Pitcher of the Year and senior outfielder Kelly Majam earned the Defensive Player of the Year award. Bob Coolen earned Coach of the Year honors.

Joining Parnaby and Majam on the all-conference first team are catcher Kayla Wartner, second baseman Jazmine Zamora, shortstop Jessica Iwata and outfielder Keiki Carlos.

First baseman Leisha Li'ili'i was named to the second team and outfielder/catcher Sharla Kliebenstein was an honorable mention selection.

The Field Player of the Year award went to Long Beach State's Shayna Kimbrough. LBSU's Darian Tautalafua was named Freshman Field Player of the Year. Cal State Fullerton's Jasmine Antunez was named Freshman Pitcher of the Year.

The Rainbow Wahine (43-11, 20-4 BWC) won the Big West title and open play in the NCAA tournament on Friday. UH faces Minnesota in the first game of the Seattle regionals
