BOSTON >> Shane Victorino's stiff back is feeling better, so Red Sox manager John Farrell plans to start him when Boston tries to win the World Series championship in Game 6.

Boston leads the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 going into Wednesday night's game at Fenway Park.

The right fielder from Maui missed the last two games, and the Red Sox won without him. In Game 4, Jonny Gomes hit a three-run homer in a 4-2 win after Victorino was a late scratch from the lineup.

Victorino also sat out Monday night's 3-1 victory, although his back wasn't as stiff as it had been.

"He was available last night," Farrell said today at Fenway Park. "He wasn't restricted to defense only or at the plate only. We fully expect him to be full go tomorrow."

Victorino is having a rough World Series at 0 for 10.

this series reminds me of 86'. boston won alcs on dramatic homerun by dave henderson in game five. seemed to carry team to wins in games 6 & 7. shane has dramatic home run against tigers to propel boston to world series. in 86' bill buckner's error won game 6 for mets and then they came back to take series in game 7. i am wondering if something like that is going to happen in game 6 this year. maybe a kozma or kolten wong dramatic hit off the vaunted boston bullpen in the late innings. cards pitching is setup well. they have their #2 & #3 starters versus bostons #3 & #4 starters. bucholz due to recovering from injury was held back till game four, which moved up the other two starters in the rotation. a great series either way.
