BOISE, Idaho >> Boise State and new head football coach Bryan Harsin have agreed to terms of a five-year contract valued at $6.5 million.

University officials released the term sheet signed by Harsin Wednesday, when Harsin was named the successor to Chris Petersen, who left for Washington last week.

Harsin will be paid a salary of $1 million each of the first two years, with subsequent raises of $1.3 million, $1.55 million and $1.65 million in the final year.

A formal contract with bonuses and incentives will be hammered out in coming weeks.

Harsin is the Broncos former offensive coordinator, but he left Boise in 2010 and spent two years running the offense at Texas. He led Arkansas State to a 7-5 record this season, his only experience as a head coach.
