BOISE, Idaho >> A Boise State quarterback who was briefly suspended while the team was in Hawaii last month may be leaving the school.

Nick Patti's father requested that his son be allowed to contact the University of Central Florida.

That's according to BSU athletic spokesman Max Corbet.

Patti, a redshirt freshman from Florida, was initially suspended in December with starting quarterback Joe Southwick during the team's trip to the Hawaii Bowl.

Patti was reinstated, while Southwick was sent home.

Southwick has said he was falsely accused of urinating from a Waikiki hotel balcony and that other players unfairly blamed him.

He hasn't named the person he says urinated from the balcony.

Corbet said Wednesday he was uncertain if Patti's departure was related to the incident in Hawaii.

He referred questions to Patti's family.

Main thing is that a criminal charge was not filed. You know, like in the Jameis Winston case?

Might as well try for UH since he already left his mark here. But then again, he may not meet Chow's high moral character requirement - which basically comes down to you being a Mormon.

Did anyone read the article that Texas Tech has lost its third quaterback. Seems like they are not going to get enough playing time so they are looking for greener pastures. Where is QB guru Norm Chow on this? Getting somone from a Big 12 program would be huge. Just saying.

We had/have other guys from Duke and Ohio State....doesn't matter where they come from. Once they get here, the guru knows how to minimize their effectiveness. Good thing Hawaii boy Mariota went to Oregon.

If they're dumb enough to think UH is a greener pasture with Chow, I don't want them here because they're as clueless as Chow.

So true. They come and surf our waves, make love to our wahine, have a good time and go back to the big city or the farm. And when they tell their friends, it starts all over again, again and again.
