University of Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin described the Warriors' opponent for Saturday, University of California Davis, as "a dangerous football team."
The Aggies, who play in the Great West Conference on the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision level, are 1-2.
"I know they are a good program ," McMackin said on a Western Athletic Conference coaches teleconference today. "I know that for years they have been well-respected and a good football team. I know they beat San Jose State last year."
The Aggies, who moved up from Division II in 2004, are 2-6 against major college opposition in that time. They upset Stanford, 20-17, in 2005 and knocked off San Jose State, 14-13, in 2010.
This season UC Davis lost to Arizona State (48-14) and Montana State (38-14) while beating the University of San Diego, 31-3.
Of his 1-2 Warriors, McMackin said, ""We obviously have some things we need to handle as a football team."
