Former University of Hawaii cornerback Mike Edwards ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds today at the National Football League Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Or he ran it in 4.56 seconds.

Edwards was told his best time in the 40 was 4.47 seconds, an unofficial mark that initially was posted on the NFL Network’s tracker.

But the network later amended his “official” time to 4.56 seconds.

After being told of his initial mark, Edwards said: “I was frustrated by my 40 time, but (NFL scouts) said 4.4 anything is good.”

Edwards had a slower time in his first attempt. He said he had a quick start but “I had trouble carrying it. I was too mechanical. The second time, I let loose.”

Edwards did well in other drills. He had a vertical jump of 36 inches, 10th best among cornerbacks. He bench pressed 225 pounds 14 times.

“I’m not satisfied with the 14 (reps), either,” said Edwards, who had 17 reps while training in Arizona the previous week.

Edwards, who was raised in Cleveland, relinquished his senior season at UH to apply for the NFL draft in April.

He is projected as a middle-round pick. The Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons have expressed the most interest in drafting Edwards.
