Waianae 35, Kaiser 16

Jaylen Mitchell rushed for two of Waianae’s five touchdowns and the No. 3 seed out of the West opened the Oahu Interscholastic Association playoffs with a 35-16 victory over Kaiser on Friday night at Raymond Torii Field.The Seariders (4-5) will travel to Kahuku to play the Red Raiders (7-1) in a quarterfinal matchup next Friday. Kahuku beat the Seariders in nonconference play to start the season 26-0.

Moanalua 30, Kapolei 13

Moanalua quarterback Dillon Turk passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as Moanalua (5-4) beat Kapolei 30-13 on Friday in the quarterfinals. Na Menehune advance to face Leilehua, the top seed from the OIA Red West. After Na Menehune opened up a three-touchdown lead in the third quarter, Kapolei responded with two touchdown runs by Mana Reis to cut the lead to seven with 8:39 left in the game.

Mililani 37, Castle 7

Jarin Morikawa passed for four touchdowns and 320 yards, all in the first half, and the Trojans’ defense dominated in a 37-7 win over Castle Friday night in the opening round of the Oahu Interscholastic Association playoffs. A crowd of about 2,500 endured a wet, cool night at John Kauinana Stadium, but were treated to another masterful performance by Mililani’s air attack. Mililani (4-5, 3-4 OIA) will meet No. 1-ranked Farrington next week in the quarterfinal round. Castle’s season ended at 2-7 (2-5).

McKinley 40, Kalaheo 0

Alex Ironside threw for 138 yards as the Tigers shut out the Mustangs in an OIA White regular-season game played at Roosevelt.
