Lobendahn leads Winnipeg to win

Former Saint Louis High linebacker Joe Lobendahn recovered a fumble by Toronto's Chad Owens in the final 2 minutes of Winnipeg's 22-16 victory last night in a Canadian Football League game.

Lobendahn, who has been with the Blue Bombers since 2008, finished with seven tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Owens, a former Roosevelt and University of Hawaii star, finished with 99 all-purpose yards, including three receptions for 21 yards. He also completed his only pass thrown for 9 yards.

Toronto trailed 19-16 with the ball in the final 2 minutes when Owens caught his third pass and fumbled as he maneuvered his way out of a tackle. Lobendahn returned the loose ball 4 yards deep in Argos' territory to help Winnipeg hold on for the victory.

» Former University of Hawaii linebackers Solomon Elimimian and Adam Leonard each forced a fumble in a losing effort as Calgary defeated British Columbia 34-32 last night.

Elimimian also recovered a fumble and recorded five tackles and Leonard added two for the Lions (0-2).
