No. 17 Hawaii rebounds with win over San Diego State

Freshman hitter Kalei Greeley put down a match-high 15 kills in her first start and No. 17 Hawaii rebounded from its first loss of the season by defeating San Diego State 25-16, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14 in Sunday’s finale of the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational volleyball tournament.

Junior middle Olivia Magill and junior hitter Keani Passi added 11 kills a piece for the Rainbow Wahine (2-1), finishing second in the 10th annual event.

Ciara Brown led the Aztecs (0-3) with 13 kills.

In Sunday’s opener, No. 25 Arizona State outlasted Ohio 25-16, 24-26, 26-24, 24-26, 15-8, to claim the championship.Tournament MVP Macey Gardner finished with 18 kills and 11 digs to lead the Sun Devils (3-0).

Kelly Lamberti had 20 kills for Ohio (1-2).

Also named to the all-tournament team were Lamberti; Hawaii’s Tai Manu-Olevao and Kalei Adolpho; Arizona State’s Kizzy Willey and Bianca Arellano; and San Diego State’s Chaiymin Steel.
