Senior All-American Emily Hartong put down a match-high 13 kills, all coming in the first two sets, and sophomore hitter Tai Manu-Olevao added 10 as No. 7 Hawaii made its first road trip of the season a successful one when sweeping host Wichita State Saturday 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 to win the Shocker Volleyball Classic in Wichita, Kan.

It was the fourth championship for the Rainbow Wahine in as many tournaments. Although the event isn’t officially over until Sunday, when Wichita State and No. 23 Creighton meet for second place, Hawaii was awarded the championship trophy before leaving, with Hartong named the MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by senior setter Mita Uiato and junior middle Kalei Adolpho.

The Rainbow Wahine (11-1) ran their winning streak to nine while snapping the Shockers’ winning streak at 10 in front of 3,251 at Charles Koch Arena. Senior libero Ali Longo had 20 of Hawaii’s digs 45 against Wichita State (11-2, 1-1) in the 81-minute victory.

Hawaii returns to play an exhibition against Toyota Auto Body of Japan on Wednesday. The Wahine open their Big West title defense Friday when they host Cal State Fullerton.
