The University of Hawaii football team has received a commitment from cornerback Zach Wilson of Upland (Calif.) High.

Wilson signed an agreement with the Warriors.

When the paperwork is finalized, Wilson will be eligible to enroll in UH’s spring semester, which begins on Monday.

Wilson is expected to participate in the Warriors’ offseason conditioning program and spring training. He will have five years to play four UH seasons.

Wilson is a 2015 Upland graduate who initially drew interest from UCLA, Boise State, Washington and Fresno State. But those schools did not extend scholarship offers because of Wilson’s early academic struggles.

Wilson did well academically during his final semester at Upland and was deemed an NCAA academic qualifier. He decided to open his options, enrolling at a junior college as a part-time student during the past fall semester. Because of his part-time status, his NCAA eligibility clock has not triggered.
