Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff members had been scheduled to conclude their month-long satellite camp tour in American Samoa.
But that won’t happen, a U-M spokesperson confirmed today.
Why? John Raynar, the communications director for the Republican Party of American Samoa, posted on his Facebook page: “The Jim Harbaugh American Samoa Gridiron camp that was slated to happen on Thursday has been cancelled due to fears of the Zika Virus. It was announced late last month that Harbaugh and his wife Sarah were expecting a baby. Sources say that their families doctor advised them to skip American Samoa’s football camp as the Zika virus poses significant health risks to pregnant women.”
This would have been U-M’s second visit to the island this month. Six U-M staffers ran a camp there at the start of June. Harbaugh was among the group scheduled to make the return trip after a few camps in Hawaii.
Zika can cause serious birth defects and is a reason a number of high-profile athletes are skipping next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

No doubt they just copied a Michigan press release. Maybe the Samoan players will pick up on this and choose to attend some better schools like say Alabama, Florida State, Baylor, etc.

I checked online and it is possible for Zika to be passed from a male to female through sax. At first I thought the wife should pass the American Samoan camp but would be okay if Harbaugh attend but given that if Harbaugh gets Zika and has sax with his wife, he could pass it to her and their current or future baby. Appropriate decision by Harbaugh
