Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o runs a drill during the NFL football scouting combine in Indianapolis

Former Notre Dame All-American Manti Te’o much improved his 40-yard dash time today in front of NFL scouts, and is credited with a 4.69 clocking, according to a school spokesman.

It came in the school’s indoor practice facility during Notre Dame’s annual pro day in South Bend, Ind.

Afterward, Te’o told ESPN.com, “I think I did pretty good. I felt good out there.”

Te’o, a North Shore native, had a disappointing 4.82 40 time last month at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Today, the 6-foot, 1-inch, 241-pound linebacker was timed between 4.71 and 4.75 on two tries by ESPN.

“He seemed happy with what he’d done,” said a Notre Dame spokesman.

School officials said Te’o is scheduled to visit several teams for interviews before the April 25-27 draft in New York.

The NFL Network reported Te’o has turned down an invitation to attend the draft at the Radio City Music Hall.
