Alexis Mercado had three hits and drove in a run and Scott Squier’s struggles at home continued as Hawaii suffered a lackluster 4-1 loss to Cal State Northridge on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Nicolas Osuna added a two-run single for the Matadors (20-17, 6-4 Big West), who moved within two games of league-leading Cal State Fullerton.

Left-hander Jerry Keel (5-1) tossed his first complete game of the season, holding Hawaii to one run on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Squier dropped to 0-6 overall and has failed to pitch more than four innings in each of his last three starts at home.

He allowed three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in four innings to take the loss for Hawaii (8-25, 3-7).

Conner George had three singles and Pi’ikea Kitamura hit an RBI single for the ‘Bows, who entered the series ranked in the bottom 10 in the country in batting average, runs, home runs and stolen bases.
