University of Hawaii center Vander Joaquim was named the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for his performance on the Rainbow Warriors’ recent roadtrip, the conference office announced today.

At Fresno, Joaquim scored UH’s last two baskets of regulation, including the game-tying field goal with five seconds remaining in a 74-68 triumph. He was responsible for 10 of UH’s 16 points in overtime.

Joaquim had seven blocks in a 77-74 loss at Nevada, one short of the UH record.
