Freshman Heather Morales threw her second straight shutout in the University of Hawaii softball team’s 7-0 win over Delaware tonight in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic.

Morales held Delaware to two hits while striking out three and walking three in the complete-game victory at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Morales opened the season with a three-hit shutout against Hampton on Thursday.

UH scored in all but one inning starting with Leisha Li’ili’i’s run-scoring double in the bottom of the first inning.

The Wahine added three more runs in the second on Jazmine Zamora’s looping single into shallow left field with the bases loaded. Zamora’s single scored Lindsey Willmon from third and Kaile Nakao and Kayla Wartner came around on Delaware throwing errors.

Kristina Akiona had doubled in her final two at bats of the game and drove in UH;’s final run in the sixth inning.

UH next faces No. 16 UCLA in the final game of the night.

The tournament concludes Saturday with bracket games starting at 10 a.m. The championship is scheduled for 4 p.m.
