Hawaii's Ashleigh Karaitiana and UC Davis' Molly Greubel battle for the ball during the first half of the game.

A 20-point halftime lead was more than enough of a cushion for the Hawaii women’s basketball team, which defeated UC Davis 59-48 tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior point guard Monica DeAngelis scored a game-high 20 points and junior forward Kamilah Martin had her ninth double-double of the season, 10 points and 12 rebounds, in the win.

UH (12-11, 8-4 Big West) remained a game behind league-leader Pacific (19-5, 9-3). The Rainbow Wahine and Tigers meet up on Saturday at the Sheriff.

A defensively dominant first half earned the Wahine a 34-14 lead at the break. UCD was held to 21.7 percent shooting in the first half with 13 turnovers.

Martin nearly had a double-double by the break with 10 points and nine rebounds.
