Punahou’s boys volleyball team remained at No. 4 in the ESPN Rise Fab 50 this week.
Kamehameha remained at No. 6 and ‘Iolani moved up two spots to No. 20.
Hawaii Baptist, the reigning Division II powerhouse in the islands, bumped up three notches to No. 25 in the national poll.
Maryknoll fell two places to No. 35.
Tracy-Vistainer tries for 3 golds
When Kahuku’s Zhane Santiago puts her cleats on at the Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field State Championships on Friday at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, she won’t be the only two-event favorite.
In fact, Kailea Tracy-Vistainer of Seabury Hall has posted the best numbers in three events this season. Tracy-Vistainer has the state’s best times in the 100-meter dash (12.50), 200 (25.30) and 400 (56.34).
Another athlete of interest is Konawaena’s first-year trackster, Lia Galdeira. The two-time Star-Advertiser girls basketball player of the year already has the state’s top long jump at 18 feet, 3.25 inches. That’s roughly 2 inches longer than the best long jump by Santiago.
On the boys side, Kapolei junior Devin Jenkins enters the championships with the state’s best times in the 100 dash (10.68) and 200 (21.48).
Punahou, which recently won the Interscholastic League of Honolulu boys and girls team championships, is the favorite at states in both.
