20130906-4656 SPT WAHINE VB The UH No. 9 Rainbow Wahine defeated Santa Clara 23-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17 to give coach Dave Shoji his 10107th win in women's Division I volleyball to break the NCAA record for most victories. The celebration starts as his team interrupts his TV interview and doses him with water, confetti and silly strings. Later, he is treated to accolades by Gov. Neil Abercrombie, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and other officials, a video of his accomplishments, and other honors. In his humbleness, he deflects the honors and credits his accomplishments to his team, past players and assistant coaches, the fans and other supporters. Shoji called former UCLA coach Andy Banachowski (left, who held the record for most wins) to the court to thank him. PHOTO BY DENNIS ODA. SEPT. 6, 2013.
