      • And I suggest sending these homeless back to where they came from that their city and state that send them to Hawai’i. Over 50% of the homeless aren’t from Hawai’i and it will be more manageable. Hawai’i should take care of their own instead of saving other states, clean out our back yard before others. I sat next to a passenger coming home from the mainland and he was telling me he had a one way ticket to Hawai’i from his state and ask me if I could give him a ride to the human services building in Honolulu, Really!

    • Wrong. Build the homeless shelters in Kakaako, where foreign millionaires buy up property and make it unaffordable for local families. Enough with spending money to beautify Kakaako, Ala Moana, Kahala, and other places that benefit rich foreigners – it’s about time the City tried to do something to make life better for the working class in Hawaii. My only complaint it is too little, and the City will just revert back to putting all our tax money into already wealthy neighborhoods.

    • Pocho, this will turn into a homeless camp. Look at all the other parks we have. We have camps all over. If there is some way to police the section against camping, then the Ewa side would be nice to have it landscaped. The Diamond head side should be paved for student parking at HCC.

  • They need to create more street parking in that area instead. Ever since they put that fence in, it pretty much wiped out dozens of parking on the other side of the canal, and caused more problems for neighborhoods in the area with people going to HCC parking there instead.

    • We should NOT build Rail Fail to Ala Moana, fence off Krakaako and make a border between it and Ala Moana Beach Park and make the Ward area a slum park for the no-good foreign real estate speculators.

It’s what they want anyway. Japanese DON’T want to assimilate…just have their ramen shops and izakayas for the three weeks out of the year they live in HNL.

      • So it is the Japanese tourists who are the cause of all our problems here in Hawaii? Bet you would sing a different tune if they did not come here anymore. You might be happy for a while but as soon as that money dries up you will be singing the blues.

The rail, millionaires, and the homeless are not the fault of the Japanese.

      • They should use this money to finish building the Rail guide-ways. Then, since we won’t be able to afford sustainment/maintenance costs for Rail, shut it down and let the homeless live up there. At least we’ll get our parks back. They’ll just have to install trash cans, toilets and/or port-a-potty’s to keep them from throwing their dirty diapers, rubbish and used needles over the side.

  • No more parks normal people can’t use because of the Homeless, druggies, and perverts. This just does not work. You want yo put a rehab center there maybe, but just stop the backward thinking. “A park will not serve anyone!”

  • If the mayor adjusted his budget to actually prioritize Parks on this island the quality of all our lives would go up. The City needs a bigger budget for our parks just to stay ahead of the repairs and maintenance. [which they are not]. We need a new Mayor that will really champion Parks throughout Oahu.

    • We need a leader to get communities to take over there parks. Get those soccer, baseball or any other leagues to cut the grass, clean the bathrooms and bag the trash. Treat this like your own backyard.
