Broken fire hydrant closes major Kakaako intersection

A fire hydrant break in the 700 block of Kapiolani Boulevard this morning has caused a major traffic problem.

The hydrant break occurred after around 10:30 a.m. and has forced police to close Kapiolani Boulevard and Cooke Street in both directions as crews with the Board of Water Supply assess the situation near the BMW auto dealership.

No customers had their water service affected.
