Police have reopened all lanes of Kalakaua Avenue between McCully Street and Ala Wai Boulevard after completing repairs to two breaks in a water line and road resurfacing early this morning.

After repairing a water line break on Kalakaua Avenue Wednesday night, Board of Water Supply crews detected a second break in the line and kept several lanes of traffic closed.

Police closed two westbound and one eastbound lane on Kalakaua Avenue between McCully Street and Ala Wai Boulevard in Waikiki from 11 a.m. Wednesday.

While backfilling after fixing the leak in the line at 1888 Kalakaua Ave., crews encountered an additional break to the 6-inch waterline.

The three Kalakaua Avenue lanes reopened at 3:27 a.m. after BWS crews completed repairs to the hydrant lateral line.

No customers were affected by the break.
