Travalo Excel

» What is it: A refillable aircraft-grade aluminum spray container for traveling with your favorite perfume or cologne without risking confiscation by the Transportation Security Administration. Travalo makes a few models. The Excel, which comes in nine colors, including some that won't threaten masculinity, holds about 65 sprays if filled to the max, keeping you far below the 3-ounce TSA threshold for carry-on luggage.

» How it works: Pull the atomizer tip off the spray bottle of your favorite scent, place the Travalo fill valve against the bottle's exit tube and push down repeatedly until the Travalo is loaded with the amount of scent you want to take on the road. Filling to capacity takes a matter of seconds.

» The good: It's a handsome, nicely made travel item. I expected it to leak just a bit, but there was no such problem. It's so small, about the size of lipstick, that you won't be adding to your baggage burden, and you'll have your signature scent along for the ride. Because of its construction, it also takes a beating. Even when you're not on a trip, it's handy to keep in a purse or briefcase just in case.

» The bad: If your perfume or cologne isn't in a spray bottle, there's no way to get it into the Travalo unless you transfer it to some kind of spray bottle that will mate with the Travalo.

» The cost: $19.99
