» What it is: A midsize duffel designed to stash everything you might need for a couple of nights away from your bed and the rest of your stuff. The feminine design touches bring to mind the popular and extensive Vera Bradley line of travel totes and accessories. But cinda b tweaks Vera Bradley by offering more understated design options and forgoing Vera Bradley's cotton construction in favor of poly/nylon fabric. The result: enhanced resistance to water and stains.
» How it works: The Weekender features a roomy interior, two outside pockets (stash your boarding pass in one, a magazine in the other) and four interior pockets for corralling smaller items.
» The good: Unsnap the ends of the zip-close Weekender and you get expanded, easy access to the bag's roomy interior. The durable exterior still looked great after being hauled through a couple of airports and in and out of several car trunks. The bag also drew unsolicited compliments from a fashion-savvy 20-something as well as a tattooed and pierced student. Fully packed, it stowed easily in the plane's overhead compartment.
» The bad: There's a reason wheeled bags are so popular. Load up the cinda b Weekender with a hair dryer, flatiron, clothes, shoes and toiletries, and you could be toting anywhere from 10 to 15 pounds on your shoulder through long security lines and endless airport corridors. (Several tests showed that the bag slides nicely along the floor when prodded with a well-placed toe.)
