Du Vin serves up dinner and a few laughs

Four classic silent comedy shorts will be screened as a free special event at downtown’s Brasserie Du Vin on June 17.

Starting at 7 p.m. on the patio—and with complimentary popcorn—the slapstick will commence with Charlie Chaplin in "Easy Street," Buster Keaton’s "One Week," "Chasing Choo-Choos" starring Monty Banks and "Big Business" with Laurel and Hardy.

Meanwhile, on June 14, the restaurant continues with its weekly Monday three-course wine dinners. Cost is $49.

On the menu: Chilled Cucumber and Avocado Soup with a Dill Creme Fraiche, paired with Famega "Vinho Verde," Minho, Portugal, 2008; Warm Salad of Spinach, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Feta Cheese, topped with Boquerones (Marinated White Spanish Anchovies), with Triennes Rose, Provence, France, 2009; and Slow-Roasted Pork Loin with Fennel, Carrots, Cippolini Onions, Baby Potatoes and Au Jus, with Bibi Graetz "Casamatta," IGT, Tuscany, Italy, 2008.

Brasserie Du Vin is at 1115 Bethel St., across Hawaii Theatre. Call 545-1115 or visit www.brasserieduvin.com.
