Wie shoots second-round 69 at State Farm
Honolulu’s Michelle Wie shot a second-round 69 today to drop to 6-under 138 at the halfway point of the LPGA State Farm Classic held at the Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill.
The Punahou School graduate carded four birdies and one bogey on the par-72 course and was tied for 16th when she signed her scorecard with about half the golfers still on the course.
The Stanford University student trailed early second-round leader M.J. Hur by six shots. Wie is currently ranked No. 7 in the world and is 12th on the money list with $224,208 in seven events.
Through 36 holes, she has hit 16 of 28 fairways and 26 of 36 greens in regulation. She is averaging 290.25 yards off the tee and has needed 58 putts.
