Hawaiian’s new Airbus needs a fix

One of Hawaiian Airlines’ two new Airbus A330-200 jets was under repair yesterday after it was turned around in midflight Friday because of a warning signal, a company spokesman said.

The aircraft departed from Honolulu Airport for Los Angeles about 1:15 p.m., but turned around when a low oil pressure indicator came on about an hour into the flight.

Back in Honolulu, repair crews found the pump had a faulty part and ordered a replacement part. Engineers were installing it yesterday, the spokesman said.

Hawaiian Airlines put the passengers on the second Airbus 330 aircraft, which left Friday at 6 p.m.

No hunting at Pohakuloa

The Army says it’s closing hunting at Pohakuloa Training Area for several weeks this summer so soldiers can participate in live-fire training exercises.

The area will be closed through July 2 and again from July 17 to Aug. 31. The Army is encouraging hunters to plan alternate hunting activities on the Big Island during these periods.

Repairs close Maui library

Kahului Public Library will remain closed while a contractor replaces the air-conditioning system. The project is scheduled to last the entire month of June, but might be extended if necessary.

Those waiting for requested items can arrange for pickup at another Maui branch. Libraries nearest Kahului are Wailuku, Makawao and Kihei public libraries.

Access to the library system is also available online at www.librarieshawaii.org.
