Sueyasu, Nakama at QB Club

Interim Castle High athletic director Laynie Sueyasu and former Honolulu Advertiser reporter Wes Nakama are the featured speakers at tomorrow’s Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon at the Maple Garden Restaurant.

Sueyasu, who oversees 23 athletic programs at Castle, is a former Hawaii softball player. Nakama, who covered high school sports for the past nine years, will discuss the recently completed spring prep season and the latest Hawaii Hall of Honor inductees.

Luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the noon speakers program. The cost for the meal is $15.

 

Volleyball clinics set

The East Oahu Boys & Girls Volleyball Club is holding clinics this month and next at Holy Nativity School’s gym in east Honolulu.

The featured coaches are Kapolei High’s Glenn Chong and former Kaiser High coach Jerry Taniguchi. The clinics are scheduled every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., through July 30.

The first clinic is Wednesday and is open to boys and girls, ages 10 to 15, of all skill levels. The cost is $125.
