Coast Guard Station Honolulu is getting a new piece of equipment. A 45-foot "Response Boat Medium" will be dedicated Wednesday at Base Support Unit Honolulu on Sand Island.

The RB-M has twin diesel water-jet engines that give it a top speed of around 45 mph and a range of about 55 miles. It has four special shock-absorbing seats to help its crew endure pounding seas.

Officials say it will complement the station’s other two small boats, a 25-foot response boat and a 47-foot motor lifeboat.
