A 33-year-old man was arrested in Waikiki after he argued with a taxi driver over the fare and allegedly took the driver’s cell phone, police said.

The 56-year-old driver picked up the man about 4 p.m. Friday and the two started to argue when the suspect got out, police said.

The driver followed the man on foot while calling police, and the men briefly struggled as the suspect took the driver’s cell phone, police said.

Officers arrested the man a short distance away on suspicion of robbery, theft, and interfering with reporting a crime. He was later released pending investigation.
