WAC delays expansion until 2012

The Western Athletic Conference today announced it will delay expansion of its membership “until July 1, 2012 at the earliest.”
With the announced departure of Boise State, that means the WAC will have eight members for 2011-’12.
“The WAC and its eight members remain well positioned for the future,” Commissioner Karl Benson said in a release.
“We will now take several months to drill down on the various membership options before making any decisions that would impact the 2012-’13 season,” Benson said.
